Al Williamson's art was a huge inspiration for me. He was also an inspiration to me in person. My dad and I went to Pennsylvania in 2001 to meet Al at his home. He was warm, generous and funny and he could not have been nicer. We had a great time. I don't know if I was able to explain to him how much his work meant to me or how much I admired him. Thanks Al.

Tales From The Plex

This is the cover to issue number twelve of the anthology comic series Tales From The Plex from publisher Futurius Comics. It features the Lovecraft/western mash-up story On the Plateau written by Sam Costello, penciled and inked by me and lettered by Dann Lundie. Saint Vahan Mamigonian

Here is an example of the process from the pen and ink sketch to the finished painting - Saint Vahan and the Persian King. I was given very specific suggestions for each image by my client the publisher of New Faith to New World - The Diocese of the Armenian Church of America (Eastern). They also frequently asked for changes after seeing the initial sketch. In all, I did thirty-nine paintings for the book (you can see all of them at my other blog or buy the book).

Dr. Hagop Nersoyan Author of New Faith to New World was a professor at the University of Dayton in Ohio. In addition to the book NFTNW he is the author of many books including The Faith of the Armenian Church and From Istanbul to Aghtamar: An Armenian Pilgrimage.
